He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they might be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be accounted to them.

(11) He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of believing-faith righteousness in his uncircumcision into him becoming the father of everybody who believes without being circumcised. For righteousness to be credited to them.

[11] The physical mark of circumcision came later, serving as a beautiful seal confirming the relationship of acceptance Abraham had already entered through faith. This sequence reveals God's purpose: Abraham would become the spiritual father of all who trust God, even without religious credentials, so they too can experience this same transformative acceptance.
