And they twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on His head. They put a staff in His right hand and knelt down before Him to mock Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

They twisted thorns into a cruel crown and jammed it onto His head. They placed a staff in His right hand as a mock scepter. Then they knelt before Him, laughing: "Hail, king of the Jews!"
