The chief priests and the scribes heard it, and sought how they might destroy him. For they feared him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching.

The religious scholars and chief priests heard about this disruption and began plotting His death. Yet they were afraid of Him, and moved cautiously, recognizing how the crowds hung on His every word as He taught.
