Pharisees came to him testing him, and asked him, β€œIs it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”

(2) Also Pharisees tested Him, questioning Him if it's lawful for a man to send away (divorce) woman?

Some Pharisees approached Him with a loaded question, hoping to trap Him in a controversial debate about divorce. "Teacher," they asked with false politeness, "does our law permit a man to divorce his wife?"
