They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn’t enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.

(28) Then they lead Yeshua from Caiaphas into the Praetorium and it was early and they didn't enter into the Praetorium so that they wouldn't be defiled but eat Passover (Pesach).

[28] Then the Jewish leaders led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Roman governor's palace. It was early morning, but they wouldn't enter the palace because they wanted to remain ceremonially clean for Passover – showing their tragic focus on ritual purity while pursuing an innocent man's death.
