and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, they who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.

[9] James, Peter, and John—considered pillars of the Jerusalem church—recognized יהוה's grace working through me. They extended the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, agreeing that we should continue focusing on the Gentiles while they focused on the Jewish people.
