It happened, that he stayed many days in Joppa with one Simon, a tanner.

[43] Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with Simon, a tanner—showing how the gospel breaks down social barriers, as tanners were considered ceremonially unclean. The stage was being set for an even greater demonstration of God's barrier-breaking grace.
