When she recognized Peter’s voice, she didn’t open the gate for joy, but ran in, and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate.

And{G2532} when she knew{G1921}{(G5631)} Peter's{G4074} voice{G5456}, she opened{G455}{(G5656)} not{G3756} the gate{G4440} for{G575} gladness{G5479}, but{G1161} ran in{G1532}{(G5631)}, and told how{G518}{(G5656)} Peter{G4074} stood{G2476}{(G5760)} before{G4253} the gate{G4440}.

[14] When she recognized Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening the door, exclaiming, "Peter is at the gate!" Joy sometimes makes us forget practicalities.
