I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven through His name.

Footnotes:

We see another poetic expression from John here in v12-v14 to show us the three stages of spiritual maturity, which Jesus also alluded to in Mark 4:28. They are (1) Little children, or the first blade of grain, (2) Young people, or an initial head of grain, and (3) Fathers, or a full head of grain. A full head of grain is full of seeds to birth a new spiritual generation for the harvest.
